Justice For Darfur

Many of the MAYAs have participated in efforts to better inform ourselves about the events in Darfur over the past several years. We have attended documentary showings, lectures, interfaith services, and held a fundraiser for aid in Darfur.

Today is a great day for the international criminal court has finally filed genocide charges against the Sudanese president, Omar al-Bashir. This a very large step in helping end it for good. There are still many steps that need to be taken and hurdles to over come. Please make it a matter of earnest prayer that everything will work together to put an end to this.

Please keep Candy and Matt in your prayers. They are close friends of Vanessa and are going through a divorce at this time. Remember them and thier families as they transition, struggle, and work things out among themselves.

More Prayers...and an update

Please keep Jessica Porter in your prayers. She has had a severe migraine the last 2 days and had to go to the emergency room last night and have a cat scan. She is worried about it since this is not common and they were not sure what exactly may be going on. Thanks.

Update on Andy: I talked with Andy last night and he is doing well. He has a sore neck but believes that it could have been worse. It was a five car pile up and he hit the person in front of him. He was rear ended which pushed him into the person in front of him. Although he was not cited he is nervous that the person in he rear ended may come after him. He is also shaken up by it. Plus, he has a lot of paper work to file with the state. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Prayers for Andy

Andy Elhardt, a young adult from this area in the church, was in an accident this morning. Please keep him in your prayers. See below for the email we recieved about the accident:

Andy just called. He was involved in a multiple car pile up on I- 84 in Portland. He was smacked real good. Both his airbags deployed and he is really shaken up. He is waiting for the paramedics to check him out, but he thinks he is ok.altho he says his back hurts.he was hit from behind and got pushed into the car in front of him.

Please keep his brother, Josh Mills, in your prayers. Josh is in the Marines and just found out that he won't be going to Iraq. He is going to Afghanistan instead. Southern Afghanistan. The worst part of. My mother is really worried that something will happen to him and she is really shook up. Please keep his mother and family in your prayers. Also to keep him safe so she has nothing to worry about. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The following prayer request comes from Tim Soper:

Laurin Beth Holmes is my mom Joy's brother Lawrence Holmes' daughter and hence my cousin. While attending a Community of Christ young adult retreat on the east coast where she lives she fell 10 feet and broke her back. I have had her on my mind and in my prayers ever since hearing the news and plan to continue on in this manner.

It seems that over the past few weeks I have run into a lot of people who have lost loved ones or are in the process of losing loved ones. Please keep the following people in your prayers and thoughts and also look around you to those who you know are in the same place in thier lives. Reach out a hand that would bring the love of God to them to bring healing and restoration.

1. Mike, just lost his grandfather.

2. Jenn, lost her father.

3. Lee, father is terminally ill.

4. Matt and Paul, lost thier grandfather.

5. To those unnamed souls who have lost someone precious to them.

1. Rebecca Redel: She has internal bleeding and at the current time does not know why. Please uphold her in your prayers.

Prayer List 10.4-10.10

Please keep the following people in your prayers:

1.Naomi Soper: On Friday, we received word that Naomi Soper woke up blind in one eye. As the day progressed, there was some light getting through and they spent the good part of the day trying to find out what is happening. This they know: her retina and vessels are healthy. There is significant pressure being exerted on her optic nerve; cause unknown. She will go to the university medical center to see the neuro-ophthalmologist and have a specialized MRI. Joy Farquhar, Naomi’s mother, informed me that the likelihood of a tumor is slim since this was a sudden onset, but the likelihood of multiple sclerosis or damage from meds is much greater. She says they are hoping for idiopathic (unknown cause) optic neuritis, since that might be gone in a month. But whatever the cause, she needs our prayers.

2.From Rebecca Redel: I just got an email from my parents today and my dog is in the hospital. IV and everything. I cried. He's such a great dog and I miss him so much! Please send out a prayer that he gets well and quickly.
